Lancaster, PA Travel Guide

Lancaster is one of Pennsylvania’s most beautiful towns and surely one of the nation’s best-kept secrets. About an hour or so outside of Philadelphia, you’re greeted with cornfields and luscious land for as far as the eye can see. Little brick homes, stores, and restaurants begin to prance into your gaze as you are welcomed by the beautiful town of Lancaster. The city is quite diverse in its sense of fashion, style, people, and customs. This is something I always look for when I hit a new destination because it allows me to constantly learn more about other people, cultures, and ways of life. In Lancaster, it’s far from uncommon to see Amish families traveling by horse and buggy around the town, on foot, and in groups. A large Amish community lives here, but it’s not the only area in the United States that is home to an Amish community. Who are the Amish? Tap to read more!

What I enjoyed the most was the historical preservation of the buildings, and getting to experience that old time feel. I think many places have lost their charm to urbanization and many other factors, but Lancaster has managed to keep it original and filled with northern beauty.

Lancaster Central Market - This wonderful farmer’s market is set in a beautiful one hundred and twenty-year-old building. It is actually the United State’s oldest running farmer’s market featuring adorable looks and effortlessly filled with charm; this is a wonderful place to grab some goodies for the week, a smoothie with friends, or explore the different cultural cuisine options. An extremely family-friendly activity and a great way to explore downtown while indulging in some fresh treats.

Proof of Lancaster - Filled with class, distinguished design, and inspiring drinks, Proof makes the perfect destination for an evening getaway. Legendary cocktails and fine wine isn’t all this intimate spot is known for; in fact, their small plates will surely leave a memorable impression. From exquisite burrata to seared sea scallops and elysian fields lamb, there is a splendid choice for everyone.

Double C - I’m not normally one for margaritas, but Double C makes the freshest and most tasty margaritas I’ve ever had. With different flavors, such as tangerine and pomegranate, you’re sure to be delighted. My favorite dish from here is their mac and cheese; it is honestly the best mac & cheese I’ve ever had, and I would highly recommend it. Another tasty option is their tacos which pair quite well with the fresh margaritas.

C’est la Vie - Loving France and everything French, my boyfriend took me here, and the food was honestly amazing. The menu features a wide variety of French cuisine, and not only is the interior beautiful, but the outdoor patio reminded me of Parisian cafes!

Lancaster Cupcake - Located in a cute spot in downtown Lancaster, it’s the perfect place to grab something sweet! They currently have a wonderful holiday menu featuring flavors such as milk & cookies, marshmallow snowman, peppermint party & more!
