Hi everyone! As some of you may know I am going to Guatemala for about a month to study at a Spanish immersion school! I am beyond excited and can’t wait to get there. I will be staying with a host family during my time there and although I won’t be home this holiday season, I am excited to experience the holidays in Guatemala.

Why Spanish immersion? 

I have been taking French since ninth grade and because of it, I have never really learned or focused on Spanish. Once I started my master’s program, I decided a large goal of mine would be to graduate trilingual. I have learned French from classes and books. Movies, podcasts, and songs also played a large role in developing my French abilities. Am I fluent? No, and I am far from it. When I don’t use it or practice it, I do forget a large bit of it and it never seems to really stick. With that being said, I took a completely different approach to Spanish. I decided to apply to do Spanish immersion. I will be going to school in Guatemala and have the comfort and help of my host family.
