Healthy Body, Healthy Mind…or however the saying goes!

Many people have been asking me to write about my workout routine, food advice, etc. I don’t have some sort of golden ticket or the answer to how to get abs fast, but I can explain to you what I do.

My workout routine –

Orangetheory Fitness

Plain and simple I go to Orangetheory Fitness. There are OTFs (Orangetheory Fitness) in most places I have traveled to in the United States, which makes it easily accessible in almost all places I go. I started going during the pandemic because I had eighteen credits of online classes and needed to set a time to get out of the house and focus on my own physical and mental health. It has been quite a ride and one I hope to forever stay on.

“Orangetheory is a heart-rate based HIIT total-body group workout that combines science, coaching, and technology to guarantee maximum results from the inside out. It’s designed to charge your metabolism for MORE caloric afterburn, MORE results, and MORE confidence, all to deliver you MORE LIFE.  Orangetheory is more than a gym because the work you do here in our studio will make all the difference out there in your world.” -Orangetheory Fitness

I have been going for almost a year now and I love it. It really helps my mental health and allows me to take my mind off work, life, etc. The class doesn’t allow you to bring your phone in either, so it’s a really good hour to spend time with yourself and push your limits. I used to go about six times a week but with work and still being in school I usually go three or four times a week!

Yoga

I have recently been getting back into yoga because of the amazing benefits. It helps me calm down, relax and unwind from a long day, while also creating a strong body and mind. I honestly just YouTube videos and do it for an hour or thirty minutes. Yoga helps me feel at peace and feel centered. This is important to me because I want my mind and body to always be a well-functioning team. I don’t enjoy feeling at war with myself or taking things out on myself I shouldn’t.

Pure Barre

So, I am actually in the process of signing up for Pure Barre and they too have many locations. I want to be able to do OTF as well as Pure Barre, which will be a good mix-up for me. I have never done Pure Barre before, but I have heard amazing things about it and am excited/nervous to try it.

“Pure Barre offers an effective total body barre workout focused on low-impact, high-intensity movements that lift and tone muscles to improve strength, agility, and flexibility for everybody.” -Pure Barre

Workout Classes vs Do It Yourself

I personally am not the biggest workout fanatic. I love to be physically fit, have a healthy body, be strong, etc. but I do struggle more if I don’t participate in a class setting. I like having the coaches there to help me and create the workouts. I by no means know how to do all the moves right and won’t push myself as hard if they aren’t there. I also enjoy feeling like a part of a team. I usually see the same people in my classes and I really enjoy the familiar faces and having a positive group environment. This obviously isn’t everyone’s workout preference it just happens to be mine and what works for me.

Food

As for groceries, I usually shop at Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, or Publix. I’m not on any sort of diet, but I do have to take in far more calories than most people. I have a very fast metabolism so if I don’t eat often and a lot I start to feel shaky and unwell.

I hope this helps, and maybe you found a new workout spot or snack! Always eat what makes your body feel good and makes you happy. So, yes eat the cupcake and go out for ice cream. Love yourself, always. You are incredible and worthy of all good things.
