Home as a Person

Home can be many things, but home can indeed be a person. A person who knows you better than you know yourself. A person who comforts you, whose being is loving and kind. A person you feel safe with and who you can always rely on. A person that no matter where you are in the world, you feel at home because of their presence. A person who lifts you, supports you, and calms you. We search high and low for a place to call home or a place to belong, but we forget that when with the right person, our surroundings begin to blur because, in fact, anywhere with this person feels like home.

It truly is one of the most beautiful feelings to experience. Maybe it’s the familiarity or the exchange of genuine love and happiness between people, but whatever it is, I know it is a form of being home. Home is a person you don’t have to translate your soul for, it is someone who understands you through every phase and in every lifetime. They love you for everything you are and everything you will be. It is a form of pure love and a gift from the universe that should be held closely. From belly laughs, effortless smiles, and happiness to deep conversations, hugs you don’t want to end, and teary goodbyes, home as a person is something I will always be thankful for.

No matter how far I travel, I’m always reminded of those I find a home in. Every time I smile extra big, try something new, discover new foods, am proud of myself, or want to show you what I’ve learned, I realize how much I do miss home. I am extra thankful for those who speak the language of my soul, and who I will always find a home in. I hope you all find homes in the beautiful people in this world, and I hope you too become a home for those around you.
